Geyer Commons in Mansfield, TX: R&B Dog Bakery and Cottage Market Review

 Quick answer: Geyer Commons in Mansfield is a free, dog-friendly outdoor destination with a seasonal Cottage Market, open lawns, seating, restrooms and a splash pad. Walt, Lilly and I visited for opening weekend and the grand opening of R&B Dog Bakery’s Cottage Market shop. It is an easy DFW outing for pet parents who want to support small businesses and browse with their dogs.

• Admission: Free

• Park hours: Daily, 5 a.m.–9 p.m.

• Cottage Market hours: Friday 5–9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sunday noon–5 p.m. during market seasons

• R&B Dog Bakery: Unit 3; the bakery currently lists Wednesday–Friday 5–9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday noon–5 p.m.

• Parking: Spaces are available along the entry drive, on Brown Street and in nearby public lots, including the MISD administration lot

• My tip: Check Geyer Commons and the bakery directly before making a special trip because market seasons and individual shop hours can change.



Some days are just special from the minute they start — and last Saturday was absolutely one of them.

We headed to opening weekend at Geyer Commons, Mansfield’s brand-new shopping and lifestyle destination… and let me just say: this place has energy. Fresh storefronts. Local vendors. Families strolling. Dogs everywhere. It felt like the start of something really good for our community.

But if I’m being honest? We were there for one very important reason.

The grand opening of R&B Dog Bakery’s brand new location at the Cottage Market.

And if you know Walt and Lilly… you know this was basically their Super Bowl.



From Community Events to a Storefront Dream

We first discovered R&B Dog Bakery at one of the many dog-focused events hosted by the Viridian Residents Association (shoutout to my fellow Viridian neighbors).

Then last summer, I made the Saturday morning pilgrimage to the Downtown Arlington Farmers Market, where we could reliably find Aisha Byrd and her booth every week.

And every single time?

Walt and Lilly lost their minds in excitement.

More Than Treats — A Mission

Aisha, the heart behind R&B Dog Bakery, created the brand in honor of her beloved Reese and Benjamin. Her mission? Wholesome, limited-ingredient, human-grade recipes made with love.

It’s local. It’s intentional. It’s heart-led. And you can feel that when you walk up to the booth (or now… into her beautiful new space).

I Tried the Sourdough Bulk Fermentation Float Test, and It Actually Worked

Bulk fermentation is still the part of sourdough that can humble me. I can feed a starter. I can stretch and fold. I can shape a loaf. I can bake a loaf that makes my kitchen smell amazing.
