Pink American Mahjong Tile Sets Under $80: Affordable Options for Beginners

This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase something through one of these links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

My mom is new to American Mahjong, and she is loving it. She has been stalking the local Hobby Lobby stores in search of their affordable pink mahjong tiles.

Yesterday, while I was poring over an email about an upcoming Christmas-themed tile release, she was commenting on how expensive mahjong tiles can be. She was not wrong. Some of the beautiful designer sets cost several hundred dollars.

I pointed out that there are still some great affordable American Mahjong tile sets available on Amazon. Since she had specifically mentioned looking for pink tiles, I spent the evening browsing pink mahjong sets priced under $80 to find options I could send her.

Now I am sharing those affordable mahjong tile sets with you, too.

Whether you are a beginner buying your first set, need an extra set for home games, or simply want something cute without the designer price, these options are worth considering.

Price note: The prices below were available when I checked on July 19, 2026. Amazon prices, coupons, and availability can change at any time.

HYZYey Pink Blossom Acrylic Mahjong Tiles

The HYZYey Pink Blossom line was one of the prettiest affordable options I found. When I checked, the Pink Floral design was listed for $77.34 and the Garden design was listed for $79.99 as limited-time prices.

Both options feature fun, flirty designs that feel more distinctive than standard traditional tiles. These are laser-engraved acrylic tiles with a four-layer design, giving them a more decorative appearance.

Each set includes 160 American Mahjong tiles:

  • 36 Dots
  • 36 Bams
  • 36 Cracks
  • 12 Dragons
  • 16 Winds
  • 8 Flowers
  • 10 Jokers
  • 6 Blank Spares

Each tile measures approximately 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.55 inches.

The set also includes six dice, four tile mixers, a cleaning cloth, and a compact PU storage case. It does not include racks.

These would be a good option for someone who wants colorful, modern American Mahjong tiles but is not ready to spend several hundred dollars on a premium designer set.

My Mahjong Trove Pink Mahjong Tiles

My Mahjong Trove offers three pink styles priced between $56.80 and $63.79 when I checked.

I can personally speak to this option because the 3-Pink set was the first mahjong tile set I purchased.

I was immediately drawn to its cute travel theme, which includes suitcases and different modes of transportation. The other two designs offer different personalities:

  • 1-Pink features cheerful colors, with jokers that remind me of little crowns.

  • 2-Pink has more of a colorful carnival-inspired theme.

  • 3-Pink features the travel design that I own.

The exact finish may vary by listing, with some styles described as printed and others as engraved. Check the selected Amazon variation carefully before ordering.

Each My Mahjong Trove set includes 160 American Mahjong tiles:

  • 36 Dots
  • 36 Bams
  • 36 Cracks
  • 12 Dragons
  • 16 Winds
  • 8 Flowers
  • 10 Jokers
  • 6 Blank Spares

The tiles measure 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.59 inches. That makes them slightly thicker than the HYZYey and traditional sets on this list.

I enjoy a chunky tile, and these feel substantial enough for regular home play while still being easy to transport.

The set includes a carrying pouch, mahjong manual, three dice, one wind indicator, and chips. Racks are not included.

For the price, I think the My Mahjong Trove tiles make a particularly good beginner mahjong set. They are colorful, portable, and more playful than a standard traditional set.

BLINGMIND Traditional American Mahjong Tiles

The BLINGMIND American Mahjong set is one of the most affordable options on this list. It was priced at $44.99 when I checked.

The tiles are available with pink, white, and blue backs while retaining traditional tile-face designs.

That traditional face design can be especially helpful for new players. Some beginners have difficulty identifying heavily stylized or unconventional tiles, particularly when they are also learning the card, Charleston, exposures, and general flow of the game.

The BLINGMIND set includes 166 tiles:

  • 36 Dots
  • 36 Bams
  • 36 Cracks
  • 12 Dragons
  • 16 Winds
  • 16 Flowers
  • 10 Jokers
  • 4 Blank Spares

It also includes four dice.

The melamine tiles measure approximately 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.5 inches, making them slightly thinner than the HYZYey tiles and My Mahjong Trove tiles.

This is a tiles-only set with dice, so you will need to purchase racks, a mat, and any other accessories separately.

For beginners who prioritize affordability and easy-to-read traditional symbols, this may be the most practical choice.

Shop the BLINGMIND American Mahjong tiles.

Gamelody American Mahjong Tiles

Gamelody offers another traditional American Mahjong tile set with pink, green, orange, and blue color options.

The set was listed for $55.99 when I checked, with an available coupon that reduced the price to $50.39. Coupons can disappear quickly, so make sure you confirm the final price in your cart.

Like the BLINGMIND tiles, the Gamelody set uses traditional tile faces that should be relatively easy for beginners to recognize.

The set includes 166 tiles:

  • 36 Circles
  • 36 Bamboos
  • 36 Characters
  • 12 Dragons
  • 16 Winds
  • 16 Flowers
  • 10 Jokers
  • 4 Blank Spares

The melamine tiles measure approximately 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.5 inches.

A carrying bag is included, making this a convenient option for someone who regularly brings tiles to lessons, neighborhood games, or mahjong nights. Racks and pushers are not included.

What Should a Beginner Look for in a Mahjong Tile Set?

When choosing your first American Mahjong tile set, price is important, but it should not be the only consideration.

Easy-to-Read Tile Faces

Traditional faces can be easier to identify when you are still learning. Decorative tiles are fun, but make sure the numbers and suits are clear enough for comfortable play.

Tile Size and Thickness

All of these options are approximately 1.2 inches tall. The main difference is thickness.

The My Mahjong Trove tiles are the thickest at approximately 0.59 inches, followed by the HYZYey tiles at 0.55 inches. BLINGMIND and Gamelody tiles are approximately 0.5 inches thick.

A few hundredths of an inch may not sound significant, but it can affect how substantial a tile feels in your hand.

Included Accessories

Pay attention to what is included in the price. Some sets come with a carrying bag, dice, chips, or a wind indicator, while others include only tiles and dice.

None of the sets featured here include racks, so beginners will need to purchase racks separately if they do not already have access to them.

My Pick for a Beginner Mahjong Set

For a brand-new player looking for an affordable first set, I would personally recommend the My Mahjong Trove pink tiles.

I own the 3-Pink travel design, and it was a great first set for me. I like the colorful artwork, the thicker tile size, and the convenient carrying pouch.

Players who are concerned about recognizing highly stylized tiles may prefer the traditional BLINGMIND or Gamelody designs. Both provide familiar tile faces at an affordable price.

The HYZYey tiles are the best choice of these four for someone who wants a decorative, layered acrylic set while remaining close to the $80 budget.

There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars to begin playing American Mahjong at home. These affordable pink mahjong tile sets provide several cute and practical options for new players.

Happy Mahjong!
