KitchenAid Dishwasher Review After 7 Days: The Quietest, Most Versatile Upgrade I’ve Made

If you’ve ever wondered whether a dishwasher can actually make your day-to-day life easier, I’m here to tell you…yes. Yes it can.

After one week with my new KitchenAid dishwasher, I can confidently say this is one of my favorite home upgrades I’ve made.

And that’s saying something considering how this whole journey started.

(If you missed it, what began as a simple replacement turned into a full-blown dishwasher disaster before I finally landed on this one. You can read that story here.)

Now that I’ve lived with it for a week, here’s my honest, real-life review.

First Impressions: Immediately Obsessed

From the very first load, I knew this was different.

The layout just made sense.

No awkward rearranging. No trying to “make things fit.” Everything had a place, and it actually worked with how I use my kitchen.

The Top Rack Is a Game Changer

Let’s start with my favorite feature: the top rack.

This isn’t just for flat utensils. I’m using it for:

  • Stanley lids
  • larger kitchen tools
  • random pieces that never had a good spot before

It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it. Now I can’t imagine going back.

Adjustable Middle Rack = Total Flexibility

The middle rack adjusts in height, and this has already been huge.

I can:

  • raise it to make room for bigger items on the bottom
  • lower it and put my Stanley cups up there instead

That flexibility makes loading so much easier depending on what I’m washing that day.

Shockingly Quiet

I knew it was supposed to be quiet.

I did not expect this quiet.

This morning I was standing in my kitchen hearing something faint and distant. I genuinely thought it might be a noise coming from outside my house.

Nope.

It was the dishwasher.

Running.

Right in front of me.

I had to stop and laugh because I literally didn’t realize it was on.

If you’ve ever had a loud dishwasher, this alone feels like a luxury upgrade.

My Favorite Feature: It Pops Open When It’s Done

This might actually be my favorite part.

At the end of the cycle, the door automatically pops open to release steam and heat.

It’s such a simple thing, but it makes a huge difference:

  • dishes cool down faster
  • less trapped moisture inside
  • better overall drying

It also gives you that visual cue that the cycle is done without needing to check anything.

Every time I walk into the kitchen and see it slightly open, I know everything inside is clean, dry, and ready to go.

Cleaning Power Is Outstanding

Every load so far has come out spotless.

No residue. No re-washing. No second guessing whether something is actually clean.

It just works.

Drying Performance: Finally

Let’s talk about something that has annoyed me for years with other dishwashers.

Wet dishes.

Not here.

Between the drying system and the door popping open at the end, dishes come out ready to go, including the items that used to always hold water.

This alone makes unloading faster and way less annoying.

Cycle Time

My normal cycle runs in just under 2.5 hours, which feels like a great balance:

  • long enough for a thorough clean
  • efficient enough for everyday use

Final Thoughts After One Week

I love it.

Lilly love it too!

It’s quieter than I ever imagined, more flexible than any dishwasher I’ve used before, and actually makes loading, running, and unloading feel easy.

This is one of those upgrades where you immediately feel the difference in your daily routine.

And after everything that went wrong at the start of this process, ending up here feels like a win.

If you’re considering a new dishwasher and debating between brands, this one has absolutely lived up to the hype for me.
